What is the Buttock Augmentation Surgery (Gluteoplasty)?

Gluteoplasty or Buttock Augmentation Surgery, is used to improve shape and size of the gluteal region, through some prosthesis filled with silicone gel. Nowadays, implants provide a total security to the body contour, have a natural appearance and usually are extremely difficult to detect.

Total Lipo-Injection: Why it is not advisable?

Another option to increase the size of the buttocks, is a procedure known as Lipo-injection: when is injected between 250 to 350 cubic centimeters of fat (in the same patient) in the area of the body treated.

Currently, the Colombian Society of Plastic Surgery has made the recommendation to all its members about NOT TO PRACTICE THIS PROCEDURE for its high risks.

For that reason Camilo Prieto Plastic Surgery ONLY PERFORM PARTIAL LIPO-INJECTIONS to correct specific defects, that only require volumes of fat within the range of 30 to 50 cubic centimeters.

Rather than make a Lipo-injection, we recommend to our patients to perform a liposuction around the buttocks, with the use of anatomical implants, because confident procedures are preferable than quicker but more dangerous ones.

¿What filling Materials MUST NOT be used in surgery?

Filling materials like Biopolymers, Biogel and others, are NOT authorized nor endorsed by the Colombian Society of Plastic Surgery. Therefore, MAY NOT BE USED to perform Buttock Augmentation Surgery or Gluteoplasty.

Injection of liquid silicone or industrial oils are extremely dangerous practices, even fatal, because there is not only risk of infections, but also those substances can travel through the blood to the lungs, causing death of patient.
